American Water Works Association
The American Water Works Association(AWWA) is one of the world’s largest non-profit water organization, boasting a membership base of over 50,000 professionals and institutions. As a global leader in the water sector, AWWA plays a pivotal role in advancing research, policy, and innovation across the industry.
AWWA hosts the Annual Conference & Exposition (ACE) each year. ACE is a leading international event that brings together water industry professionals from around the world to share the latest technologies, strategies, and operational practices. The event features a wide range of educational sessions, workshops, exhibitions, and networking programs, attracting thousands to over 10,000 participants annually from dozens of countries.
At the ACE 2025 exhibition, KWWA renewed its MOU with AWWA, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening technological cooperation and enhancing export support between the two countries. This renewed partnership is expected to create new opportunities for joint initiatives and facilitate deeper collaboration in the global water market.



Australian Water Association (AWA) is a leading non-profit organization representing the Australian water industry, with a membership of approximately 6,000 individuals and organizations. AWA plays a central role in building networks among water professionals and driving knowledge sharing, capacity development, and collaboration in policy and technology.
In July 2024, KWWA signed a MOU with AWA, marking a significant milestone in advancing cooperation between Korea and Australia in the water sector—an area that had seen limited interaction until now. This partnership signals a new chapter of mutual exchange, innovation, and strategic collaboration between the two countries.
The Hungarian Water Association (HWA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting professionals, decision-makers, water utilities, technology providers, and individuals involved in urban water and wastewater management. For more than 20 years, HWA has continuously shared expertise and practical experience across the water sector, serving as a trusted platform for collaboration among stakeholders concerned with water resources, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
HWA actively supports the development and implementation of sustainable urban and river basin water solutions, fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and international cooperation. Through conferences, professional programs, and partnerships, the Association plays a key role in advancing resilient and future-oriented water management practices.
In March 2025, HWA participated in WATER KOREA, where it showcased Hungarian water technologies and expertise, and signed MOU with KWWA. This MOU goes beyond technical and expert exchange, incorporating business matchmaking and joint market development between the two countries. As a result, the partnership is expected to create new opportunities for mutual entry into global water markets, strengthening international cooperation in the water industry.



The Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) is an export-oriented cluster comprising more than 20 Hungary-based water industry companies, covering a wide range of water management fields from drinking water and wastewater services to innovative water treatment solutions. As a non-profit professional organization, HWP supports its members in expanding into international markets through technology transfer, solution development, global networking, and promotion.
HWP also operates as a one-stop shop platform for international partners seeking Hungarian water solutions and maintains official cooperation with the Hungary Helps Agency, the Hungarian government’s implementing agency for ODA, to apply sustainable water technologies in international development and humanitarian projects.
In March 2025, HWP participated in WATER KOREA 2025 and signed a MOU with KWWA, laying the groundwork for practical cooperation and business partnerships between Hungarian and Korean water industry stakeholders.



Japan Sewage Works Association
Japan Sewage Works Association (JSWA) is a leading professional organization dedicated to the advancement of sewage and wastewater management in Japan. The Association brings together local governments, public utilities, engineers, researchers, and private-sector stakeholders to support the planning, operation, and modernization of sewerage systems nationwide.
Although the MOU between JSWA and KWWA has formally expired, the cooperative relationship between the two organizations remains active and constructive. JSWA and KWWA continue to exchange relevant technical information, policy insights, and operational experiences as needed, maintaining open channels of communication and mutual support. This ongoing interaction reflects the strong foundation of trust built over years of collaboration and underscores both associations’ shared commitment to advancing sustainable and efficient wastewater management in the region.
Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association
The Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) is a non-profit professional organization established on June 7, 1988, representing bodies and individuals engaged in the water supply, sewerage, and sanitation sector in Vietnam. The association brings together utilities, researchers, engineers, manufacturers, and experts to support the development of the water sector and improve living standards across the country.
In April 2026, KWWA and VWSA renewed their MOU. The two organizations first entered into an MOU in 2011, although cooperation had lapsed for a period. Recognizing the growing global challenges related to water, both parties reaffirmed the need for closer collaboration and re-established the MOU as a foundation for strengthening cooperation and advancing the water industries in both countries.
Compared to previous agreements, this MOU places greater emphasis on substantive and practical areas of cooperation, including the promotion of pilot projects in Vietnam and support for collaboration with public officials and technical personnel in Vietnamese public water institutions. These additions are intended to facilitate on-site implementation and enhance the effectiveness of technical cooperation.



Ulaanbaatar Water Supply and Sewerage Authority
The Ulaanbaatar Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (USUG) is the public utility responsible for the operation and management of water supply and wastewater facilities in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. USUG is tasked with providing safe and reliable drinking water to residents and ensuring the hygienic and stable treatment of wastewater, thereby supporting public health and urban sustainability.
In order to explore opportunities for cooperation in the water industry, KWWA conducted a four-day visit to Ulaanbaatar from November 3 to 6, 2025. During the visit, KWWA held discussions with USUG on potential areas of collaboration and visited major water supply and sewerage infrastructure facilities in the Ulaanbaatar region. This visit was carried out as part of preliminary exchange activities aimed at supporting the overseas expansion of Korean water companies and strengthening the Korea–Mongolia water industry cooperation network.
During the visit, Mr. Yoo Myung soo, Vice President of KWWA, held meetings with key USUG officials, including Governor Turkhüü and Deputy Governor Dagvasuren. The discussions covered a wide range of potential cooperation areas, such as water and wastewater policy and technology exchange, capacity-building and professional training in the wastewater treatment sector, and the identification of joint cooperation projects. In addition, KWWA formally invited Governor Turkhüü to attend WATER KOREA 2026, scheduled to be held in March 2026. Both organizations expressed their intention to sign a MOU in conjunction with WATER KOREA 2026 and to expand regular exchanges and cooperation on a long-term basis.



The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a leading nonprofit professional and educational organization in the water sector, founded in 1928. WEF plays a pivotal role in connecting water quality and water environment professionals worldwide while fostering innovation across the global water industry. With more than 30,000 individual members and over 70 member associations around the world, WEF supports the exchange of technology, policy, and education across a wide range of fields, including wastewater treatment, stormwater management, water reuse, and water quality regulation.
Each year, WEF hosts WEFTEC, the largest water quality exhibition and conference in North America. WEFTEC brings together water professionals from around the globe through exhibitions, networking opportunities, workshops, and expert-led technical sessions, serving as a premier platform for showcasing the latest technologies and sharing cutting-edge knowledge in the water sector.
In September 2025, KWWA visited WEFTEC and renewed its MOU with WEF. Through this renewed partnership, the two organizations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Korea and the United States by promoting mutual participation in exhibitions, facilitating the exchange of experts and technical information, and expanding collaborative efforts to support the sustainable growth and global competitiveness of the water industry in both countries.



The World Water Council (WWC) is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to addressing global water challenges by fostering cooperation across policy, technology, and water diplomacy. The Council’s core mission is to promote global water governance and advance a shared vision for sustainable water management, recognizing water as a key driver of peace, development, and resilience.
Every three years, WWC convenes the World Water Forum, the world’s largest international gathering in the water sector. The Forum serves as a premier global platform where national governments, international organizations, local authorities, public institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society come together to address critical issues such as climate change, water security, sustainable water management, and water and peace.
The most recent World Water Forum was held in 2024 in Bali, and the next Forum is scheduled to take place in 2027 in Riyadh. In preparation, a series of preparatory meetings and thematic discussions involving governments, international organizations, and key water institutions will be actively pursued throughout 2026.
KWWA is an official member of WWC and actively participates in international water policy dialogue and global cooperation networks. In particular, when President Loïc Fauchon visited Korea in September, KWWA took part in key meetings to share Korea’s water management experience and policy perspectives, while engaging in in-depth exchanges on global water issues—demonstrating its continued commitment to international collaboration with WWC.
